Erasmus+ Mobility for Study

Erasmus+ for Study

The Erasmus+ Study programme allows students to carry out study periods in another European Union country and in certain non-EU partner countries participating in the programme (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey).

The page Erasmus+ Mobility for Study (outgoing) provides detailed information about the programme and the amounts of the scholarships.

Erasmus Destinations

The Department of Economics and Business has numerous active agreements with universities across Europe under the Erasmus+ Programme. When submitting the application, students may choose from 1 to 3 destinations among those with which the Department has signed an agreement.

When choosing the Erasmus destination, it is necessary to:

  • Verify that the destination is available for your level of study (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD)
  • Check that the Partner University offers courses compatible with your study plan by consulting the academic offer provided in the indicated links
  • Verify the language requirements of the host institution

Call for Applications and Submission

To participate in a study mobility programme, you must apply to the Erasmus+ for Study (SMS) call, available on the dedicated webpage.

The Erasmus+ for Study call is published annually between November and January.

Applications must be submitted online through the Self-Studenti platform, following the instructions provided in the call.

Before Submitting Your Application

  • Attend the information meetings or contact the International Mobility Office of DiSea (erasmusdisea@uniss.it / tel. 079 213005)
  • Carefully read the selection call published on the dedicated webpage
  • Acquire an adequate level of foreign language proficiency in time, according to the procedures indicated in the call
  • Check on the Erasmus host universities’ websites whether the academic offer is compatible with your study plan
  • Verify which exams can be recognised abroad

Language Level Certification

Language requirements are an admission criterion and must therefore be met within the deadlines and in accordance with the procedures indicated in the call.

Language levels may be certified through the following methods, obtained no more than 24 months before the call deadline:

  • International language certification (list of accepted certifications)
  • Certificate of language assessment obtained through the language test held at the CLA (University Language Centre)

Study Plan Abroad (Learning Agreement)

The activities permitted during the Erasmus study period are:

  • Attendance of courses and completion of exams
  • Research activities aimed at preparing the Master’s thesis

The Learning Agreement must be completed online via Self-Studenti before departure and approved by the Erasmus+ Coordinator of DiSea and the partner university.
When preparing the Learning Agreement, you must check the compatibility of the courses you intend to take at the host university with the corresponding courses offered at the University of Sassari for your study programme, according to the established rules.

The Learning Agreement must be signed by all parties involved; this is an essential requirement for departure and for the recognition of academic activities.

Which Exams Cannot Be Taken Abroad?

  • First-year exams of the Bachelor’s degree, Financial Accounting and Analysis, and Law exams
  • Exams already passed during your programme of study at Uniss

Language courses are recognised as compulsory exams at a level lower than that required for your study programme

Organisation of Mobility (Before, During and After)

Erasmus Procedures (Before, During and After)

If you have been awarded an Erasmus+ scholarship for study, you must follow several procedures.

1. Register at the Host University

How?
Fill out the Erasmus student application form and attach the required documents following the instructions received via email or published on the host university’s website.

When?
Check the deadlines on the host university’s website or in the information emails.
Important: failure to meet deadlines may result in the loss of your Erasmus placement.

2. Agree on and Have Your Learning Agreement Approved

Contact the Department’s Erasmus Coordinator (students will be invited via email by the Department’s Erasmus Office).

3. Complete the Learning Agreement on Self-Studenti

The Learning Agreement, agreed with the Erasmus Coordinator – Prof. Lucia Pozzi – must be completed on Self-Studenti.
It will be approved on the platform and automatically sent through EWP (Erasmus Without Paper) to the host university.
PDF documents are no longer accepted unless the host university is not registered on EWP.

4. Renew Enrolment at the University of Sassari and Pay Tuition Fees

DURING THE MOBILITY PERIOD

During your study period abroad, you must:

  • Send the arrival certificate issued by the host university to the International Relations Office
  • Request any changes to the Learning Agreement (within one month from arrival)
  • Request an extension of the mobility period, if needed (at least one month before the end of the Erasmus period)
  • Have the date of your return certified by the host university
  • Request the Transcript of Records from the host university, necessary for exam recognition

UPON RETURN TO ITALY

Upon returning to Italy, you must:

  • Email all documentation (arrival certificate, attendance certificate with return date, and Transcript of Records) to the International Relations Office (anelli@uniss.it), Piazza Università – Palazzo Zirulia (2nd floor), and complete the online final mobility questionnaire
  • Request recognition of the exams and/or activities completed abroad by sending the Transcript of Records and the attendance certificate (with start and end dates) to the Department’s Erasmus Office (erasmusdisea@uniss.it)

Based on the submitted documents (see grade conversion table), the Department Council will approve the recognition of certified attendance and passed exams, listing them both under their original foreign names and with an Italian title corresponding to the relevant disciplinary sector.

Credit Recognition

Incentive/Reward Project

Incentive project for students who have completed Erasmus+ study mobility

To encourage the commitment of Erasmus scholarship recipients from academic year 2009–2010 onwards, the University of Sassari and the Department of Economics and Business have launched an experimental project awarding prizes to students who achieve the best academic results during their period abroad.

Based on the documentation issued by the host university and submitted by students at the end of their mobility period, the Foreign Relations Committee will draw up a ranking based on:

  1. The number of ECTS/CFU earned by each student at the host university
  2. The actual (and certified) period of study abroad
  3. The number of exams successfully completed
  4. Any research activities carried out abroad for the preparation of the Master’s thesis, certified by the thesis supervisor

In the case of identical numbers of ECTS/CFU earned abroad, the Committee will also consider:

  • Any additional certified language skills issued by the host university or qualified institutions
  • Any certified traineeships completed abroad
